Zynaty Tech ("we", "our", or "us") built Flick: Smart TV Remote ("Flick") as a smart TV remote control application for compatible smart TVs. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our app.
Summary: Flick operates entirely on your local network. We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to external servers. Your privacy is our top priority.
Information We Do NOT Collect
Flick is designed with privacy as a core principle. We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
- Usage analytics or behavioral tracking data
- Location data or GPS information
- Device identifiers for advertising purposes
- Browsing history or viewing habits
- Any data transmitted to external servers or cloud services
- Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to third parties
Information Stored Locally on Your Device
The following information is stored only on your device and never leaves it:
- TV Device Information: Names, IP addresses, and connection details of TVs you connect to on your local network
- Pairing Credentials: Authentication keys required to control your TV, stored securely in iOS Keychain using Apple's encryption
- App Preferences: Your settings, preferences, and customizations within the app
- Favorite Apps: Your selected favorite TV applications for quick access
You can delete all locally stored data at any time by uninstalling the app from your device.
Local Network Access
Flick requires access to your local network to:
- Discover compatible smart TVs on your WiFi network
- Establish secure connections with your TV for remote control functionality
- Send commands to control your TV (volume, channels, navigation, etc.)
- Retrieve TV status information (current volume, mute state, etc.)
- Launch apps installed on your TV
All communication happens directly between your iPhone/iPad and your TV over your local WiFi network. No data passes through our servers or any third-party servers.
Third-Party Services
Flick does not integrate with any third-party services including:
- Analytics platforms (Google Analytics, Firebase, Mixpanel, etc.)
- Advertising networks or ad tracking services
- Social media integrations
- Cloud storage services
- Crash reporting services
Data Security
We take the security of your information seriously:
- Pairing credentials are stored in the iOS Keychain, Apple's industry-standard secure storage system with hardware-level encryption
- All TV communication occurs over your secure local network
- No data is transmitted over the internet to any external servers
- The app does not require an account or login
- No sensitive information is ever logged or stored in plain text
Data Retention
Since we do not collect any personal data, there is no data retention on our end. Local data stored on your device remains there until you:
- Remove a saved TV from the app
- Clear the app's data through iOS Settings
- Uninstall the app from your device
Your Rights
You have full control over your data:
- Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible to you
- Deletion: You can delete all data by uninstalling the app
- Portability: Since no data is stored externally, there is nothing to export
Children's Privacy
Flick does not collect any personal information from anyone, including children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The app contains no advertising, in-app purchases targeting children, or social features. The app is safe for use by all ages under parental supervision.
International Users
Flick is designed to comply with privacy regulations worldwide, including GDPR (European Union), CCPA (California), and other applicable privacy laws. Since we do not collect, process, or store any personal data, there are no cross-border data transfers to be concerned about.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for legal, operational, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by:
- Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
- Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
- Providing notice through the App Store update notes when applicable
